Posted by olbi in

Who doesn't like My Sassy Girl movie? mmm.. I guess almost everyone likes the Korean movie but this year, Hollywood has its own remake!!! I just watched the trailer and somehow it made me happy knowing that the movie's trailer has finally been publicized. I’ve waited for so long, searching almost every week to watch some previews because I wanted to compare and contrast the two. It’s up to you to judge… just watch this video…

Marilyn Monroe

I’m not an avid fan of this Hollywood icon until I get to watch an episode in the Discovery Channel. Marilyn Monroe (born as Norma Jeane Mortensen) was so controversial in a sense that her popularity was widespread in the past, and is still affecting the present, likewise, will be existent in the future. I watched (I think last week) by chance the episode of Unsolved History segment in the Discovery Channel which tackled the issue whether Monroe did commit suicide or was murdered. It was pretty amazing in every moment of an hour episode because technology and science today really paved the way to experiment and to determine things only knowledgeable people could do. Every observation and few evidences of Monroe’s death were very important and thus made some people to seek for more answers to such incident. After I watched the episode, I acknowledged Marilyn Monroe as an individual, not judging on the fact whether she was suicidal nor murdered.

Visit Discovery Channel for more info about Monroe (if you didn't watch the episode).

What are the latest movies in Davao?

Posted by olbi in

Long before, I used to inquire what’s showing in cinemas via text message. I mean, there was this electronic-operated sms texting (I don’t know what to call it) in which you simply text to a particular 4-digit number to verify the latest movies in the mall. Now, whenever I’m stuck at home and I don’t have any load for texting, I merely go to a known website to update myself on the newest movies in town. So I suggest you visit on these sites especially those who live in Davao for more information:

There is this thing...

An obsession...

It’s giving me this intense feeling...

I have encountered many things in my life yet this is different.

Very unique.

It’s providing me high energy...

It makes me nervous...

I’m yearning for it everyday.

I’m into it...

I need it...

Coffee, it’s my pleasure to have one…

there was this song which i always hear on the Edge Radio and it makes me wonder of its title and artist's name. i asked my friends about this song and they themselves don't know about it. thus, it came to a point when i just have to take my chances of hearing again the amazing music over and over again on the said radio station til i finally predicted its title through the repeated line 'set the world on fire'. after my online search for the song's lyrics as well as its sample mp3, i concluded that this beautiful song was entitled Set the World on Fire by Britt Nicole. the lyrics in particular are inspiring..

When a certain useful object has been lost, I tend to be uncomfortable with my daily activities. It seems to me that every little thing I have such as my hanky, perfume, comb etc are very imperative with my day-to-day action because all this stuff constitutes my routine. What will happen if our accustomed actions have deviations? Recently, I lost my glasses or should I say, I left it in a resort where I and my close friends reunited to have a good time this summer. That poor thing was in fact newly bought since I also lost the old one. Hehe.. Careless indeed! That’s why these days I’m having a hard time to focus on things, to vividly see my surroundings (especially when I went out to stroll the city), and to stay longer in front of the computer. How I wish I could retrieve my glasses through the help of a friend. Hopefully, after many days of being indifferent will I be able to be ‘normal’ again. Hehe..

Quotes by Dr. Gregory House

I watched all the episodes of one of my favorite series, which is House, M.D., and here, I collated some of House's notable lines.

SEASON ONE

Episode One (Pilot)

[House and Wilson are walking through the hallway. All you can see is their hands and legs, showing that House is using a cane and limping. Wilson is the only one of the two wearing a lab coat.]

House: See that? They all assume I’m a patient because of this cane.

Wilson: So put on a white coat like the rest of us.

House: I don’t want them to think I’m a doctor.

Wilson: You see where the administration might have a problem with that attitude.

House: People don’t want a sick doctor.

Wilson: Fair enough. I don’t like healthy patients.

“Everybody lies”

Cameron: Dr. House doesn’t like dealing with patients.

Foreman: Isn’t treating patients why we became doctors?

House: No, treating illnesses is why we became doctors, treating patients is what makes most doctors miserable.

Cuddy: I was expecting you in my office 20 minutes ago.

House: Really? Well, that’s odd, because I had no intention of being in your office 20 minutes ago.

Cuddy: You think we have nothing to talk about?

House: No, just that I can’t think of anything that I’d be interested in.

Cuddy: Your reputation won’t last up if you don’t do your job. The clinic is part of your job. I want you to do your job.

House: Well, like the philosopher Jagger once said, “You can’t always get what you want.”

House: Told you, can’t trust people.

Foreman: I thought everybody lied?

House: Truth begins in lies. Think about it.

Foreman: That doesn’t mean anything, does it?

[House walks away]

Cameron: And if we’re wrong?

House: We learn something else.

House: I’m Dr. House.

Rebecca (patient): It’s good to meet you.

House: You’re being an idiot. You have a tapeworm in your brain, it’s not pleasant, but if we don’t do anything you’ll be dead by the weekend.

Rebecca: Have you actually seen the worm?

House: When you’re all better I’ll show you my diplomas.

Rebecca: I just want to die with a little dignity.

House: There’s no such thing! Our bodies break down, sometimes when we’re 90, sometimes before we’re even born, but it always happens and there’s never any dignity in it. I don’t care if you can walk, see, wipe your own ass. It’s always ugly, always. You can live with dignity, we can’t die with it.

"Patients always want proof, we’re not making cars here, we don’t give guarantees"

Cameron: Why did you hire me? You hired a black guy because he had a juvenile record.

House: No, it wasn’t a racial thing, I didn’t see a black guy. I just saw a doctor…with a juvenile record. I hired Chase ‘cause his dad made a phone call. I hired you because you are extremely pretty.

Cameron: You hired me to get into my pants?!

House: I can’t believe that that would shock you. It’s also not what I said. No, I hired you because you look good; it’s like having a nice piece of art in the lobby.

Cameron: I worked very hard to get where I am.

House: But you didn’t have to. People choose the paths that grant them the greatest rewards for the least amount of effort. That’s the law of nature, and you defied it. That’s why I hired you. You could have married rich, could have been a model, you could have just show up and people would have given you stuff. Lots of stuff, but you didn’t, you worked your stunning little ass off.

House: But you are damaged, aren’t you?

House: You lied to a friend to save a stranger, you don’t think that’s screwed up?

Wilson: You’ve never lied to me?

House: I NEVER lie.

Enduring the Torch Relay

Posted by olbi in ,

I had a new discovery (that should have been known for a long time) concerning this year’s Summer Olympic Games. I watched live from one of the international news channel about the flame-lighting ceremony held in Olympia, Greece and I was surprised knowing that the Olympic flame should be ignited several months (like five months) before the actual or opening celebration of the Summer Games. There is this traditional torch relay in which the flame should keep on burning while carried by selected runners or athletes who would travel at about 85,000 miles across several countries. The Olympic Torch Relay will only end on the day of the opening ceremony to be held in a stadium specifically in Beijing, China. Hence, the torch was lit recently and it should keep on blazing until this August. This whole thing is new to me because all I know, there is a chosen and well-known athlete who would basically bring the torch, implying that the games will have to start. Behind that straightforward thinking of mine, I haven’t grasped the idea that the Olympics seem to undergo processes before the actual event will take place. I’m glad that I actually switched the channel to that live telecast of this important and highlighted event of the year.

showery summer

It’s summer time! Almost everyone’s ready to submerge their bodies in those delightful beaches with white sand and relaxing ambiance. Filipinos are also expecting to have an extremely hot weather, making each person diaphoretic. However, it turns out that it’s raining almost everyday, specifically here in Davao. How ironic isn’t it? I just watched the weather news earlier and it mentioned the fact that there is an eastern wave, contributing to the windy season in the region, and sometimes would cause the rain to occur. For me, I guess I prefer the cool environment these days to compensate from the awful heat of the sun…and as an advice, prepare your umbrella (ella.. ella.. eh eh eh) because it might be useful either from the rain or for this summer season.
